While Jim set a high bar when he proposed to Georgia during an exotic holiday, this New York couple found an even more impressive setting to exchange their vows along the rugged cliffs of the Athenian coast.
A Symbolic Ceremony at Island Resort Athens Riviera
Georgia and Jim chose the Island Resort Athens Riviera (formerly known as Island Art & Taste) for its strategic location and superior aesthetics. Opting for an intimate, symbolic ceremony over a traditional religious one, the couple had Georgia’s best friend officiate—a choice that added a deep layer of "emotional truth" to the day.
The modern décor was in perfect harmony with the venue’s refined atmosphere. The ceremony arch, adorned with a mix of white roses, hortensias, and astilbe, framed the couple against the infinite blue of the Aegean. The vows, written by Georgia and Jim themselves, were original and moving, proving that when you strip away the formal walls, the personal connection takes center stage.
Golden Hour and the "Reaction"
As an Athens wedding photographer, I am always looking for the way the light interacts with the landscape. Once the sun dipped below the horizon, the terrace was transformed by candlelight and string lights.
One of my favorite moments to capture is the reception's "energy"—specifically the raw, unscripted reactions of the couple and their guests during the speeches and video projections. This wedding was a testament to the idea that natural beauty is the best spotlight for the people you love.
