Casual & Urban: A Romantic Stroll through the Historical Center of Athens | George & Eleni
A Sunset Stroll in the Heart of Athens: George & Eleni’s Engagement
There is a specific energy to the historical center of Athens that you just can’t find on a beach. When George and Eleni told me they wanted something urban, casual, and playful, I knew exactly where to take them.
We met near the Panepistimio metro station. If you’ve never stood in front of those buildings, the classical Greek architecture is breathtaking—it’s the perfect "grand" backdrop to start with before diving into the more intimate, narrow streets.
Timing is Everything in Greece
One question I often get asked is: "When is the best time for a photo shoot in Athens?" Especially in the summertime, my answer is always the same: about 90 minutes before sunset. We started our session then to make sure we had the best light, but also to escape the intense Greek heat.
From Neoclassical Grandeur to Plaka’s Charm
We used the first few minutes at the University building to break the ice. I quickly realized that George and Eleni had incredible natural chemistry. They didn’t need "posing"—they just needed space to be themselves.
As we slowly drifted from the center toward Plaka, the session felt less like a "production" and more like a stroll with friends. We’d stop when we saw a patch of interesting light or a quiet corner away from the crowds. By the time we reached the winding paths of Plaka for our final shots, they were 100% comfortable.
Why the "Pre-Wedding" Session Matters
left this shoot feeling so positive. Beyond getting some beautiful images, it’s about the connection. Now, when I show up to their wedding, we aren't strangers. I already know their style, and they know they can just have fun and trust my instincts.
Are you planning a destination wedding or an engagement in Athens? I’d love to help you find the perfect urban or coastal spot that feels like "you."
