Island Resort Athens Riviera | The Multi-Cultural Celebration of Anna & Alexandros
If a moonlit night under the Acropolis is the only romantic image you associate with Athens, it’s time to look toward the coast. Anna and Alexandros, who traveled from Toronto to celebrate their union, chose the Island Resort Athens Riviera (formerly known as Island Art & Taste) in Varkiza as the setting for their dream wedding.
From Toronto to the Athenian Coast
Anna and Alexandros’ relationship is a testament to the power of true love. After meeting at a charity event in Canada and navigating the trials of a long-distance relationship while Anna studied in the UK, they knew instinctively that Greece was the place to eternalize their vows. Having visited the venue on a previous holiday, they fell in love with the tiny seaside chapel—a spot so close to the water you can almost feel the spray of the waves.
A Scene from a Classic Movie
On a warm August afternoon, the ceremony unfolded in a bucolic garden surrounded by evening primrose and oleander. As the bride joined the groom, her long veil carried by a young bridesmaid, the scene felt like a still from a classic black-and-white Greek film. As a discrete observer, capturing this timeless elegance against the deep blue of the Aegean is exactly why I love working along the Riviera.
Vodka, Caviar, and Greek Honey: A Fusion of Traditions
The reception was a beautiful fusion of Anna’s Russian and Alexandros’ Greek heritage. Guests enjoyed a luxurious vodka and caviar bar alongside local grapes and wedding favors of delicious Greek honey. This blend of cultures created a vibrant, sophisticated atmosphere that lasted well into the early hours of the morning.
