Agreco Farm Crete | The Earthy, Soulful Union of Isabel & Karen
The island of Crete offers a rare combination: lush nature, ancient fortress towns, and an incredible culinary heritage. This is precisely why Isabel and Karen chose the hilltop of Agreco Farm, near Rethymno, for their celebration. Overlooking endless olive groves and vineyards, the farm provides a "village-style" luxury that feels grounded and authentic.
A Ceremony at St. Nicholas Chapel
Isabel and Karen first met as teenagers, and the weight of that history was felt by every guest as they exchanged vows. The ceremony took place at the picturesque Chapel of St. Nicholas, right on the grounds of Agreco Farm. To the sounds of flute and violin, the two brides walked hand-in-hand, each carrying vibrant bouquets that reflected their colorful personalities.
As a discrete observer, capturing the moment they emerged from the chapel—showered in pink flower petals against the rustic stone walls—was a highlight. It was a simple, ethereal moment that captured the "emotional truth" of their long journey together.
A Traditional Cretan "Feast"
The reception was a sophisticated nod to traditional Cretan celebrations. Set at long wooden tables in the farm's tavern, the décor featured pomegranates, local foliage, and candlelight. The atmosphere was perfectly aligned with the Agreco vibe: pergolas, a traditional watermill, and the scent of the wood-burning oven.
Guests enjoyed organic "mezedes" prepared from the farm’s own produce. Despite the brides’ jokes about the challenges of navigating the wishes of two opinionated mothers, the evening was a seamless blend of joy and high-energy dancing. The island’s aura, along with the radiant brides, truly became the "stars" of the evening.
Working with the team at Rock Paper Scissors Events, we documented a day that was as stylish as it was soulful—a celebration that was also featured on the Equally Wed blog.
