La Maltese Santorini Wedding | The Autumnal Grace of Andriana & Alexander

Wedding in La Maltese Santorini

From the couple’s photo session in the village in Megalochori, Santorini

A wedding at La Maltese Santorini is an undeniably romantic affair. With the volcano as a backdrop and the caldera's breathtaking sunset as a witness, it is a location that lends itself to the most stunning imagery—white limestone walls, blue domes, and the deep Aegean horizon. For Andriana and Alexander, who traveled to the island with their closest family, the day was a perfect blend of destination luxury and local tradition.

A Traditional Procession to St. John the Baptist

The couple chose an idyllic autumnal day for their union. While the sun was brilliant, the mild October temperature created a clarity in the air that is a photographer’s dream. Following local custom, Alexander waited at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Fira, which overlooks the volcano.

One of the most moving moments to capture as a discrete observer was Andriana’s walk to the church. Guided through the winding alleys by local musicians playing traditional instruments, she looked timeless in a lace gown with a heart-shaped neckline. The sound of the music echoing against the stone walls drew cheers from villagers and travelers alike, making the journey to the altar feel like a piece of living history.

An Intimate Dinner at La Maltese Hotel

The ceremony was followed by a sophisticated, intimate reception at La Maltese Hotel. We utilized the "magic hour" for a photo session in the quiet village of Megalochori, capturing the couple away from the crowds amidst the authentic Cycladic architecture.

The dinner itself was set on a single long table overlooking the caldera, adorned with chic, vintage touches of hortensias, roses, and orchids. As the stars appeared, the celebration moved to the infinity pool, where multiple generations danced together well into the night.

The Soul of the Island

This wedding was a reminder that Santorini is at its best when you embrace its traditions. From the tears during the vows to the laughter by the pool, it was an honor to document a story that felt so deeply connected to the soul of the island.
